Baby Austin’s Battle

By | Behind The Scenes, Teddy Highlight | No Comments

Baby Austin was born in March, 2018 into a loving family with Mum, Amy and Dad, Andrew by his side, he was adored by his brother and sister, Archie and Abby. Austin was reaching all his goals and milestones, then he started getting a bit of reflux and this little baby started playing havoc for mum. Amy thought things were a little strange when he went off his food and started getting a temperature! Up to the hospital she went where they monitored him for the night but with no answers, they referred him to see a paediatrician when they…

Dyaln says competition Dylan loves his sheepskin but its not a teddy bear

Dylan says………

By | Teddy Highlight | No Comments
What did Dylan have to say competition? The youngest member of the Tambo Teddy family, Dylan, is now eight months old and becoming a real character. Being very mobile (the fastest crawler in Tambo!) he can cut some moves around the shop on a Saturday morning - and the best fun is exploring! Ribbons, tags, teddies....anything within reach. Dylan managed to sit still long enough for us to catch a couple of piccies of him and we thought it would be fun to run a competition to see what people thought he might be saying (if he could talk!). Loads...

Pet Rocks for Teddy Bears

By | Teddy Highlight | No Comments
A couple of cutely painted pet rocks mysteriously appeared on our teddy bear seat out from of the shop. We were quite amused and had no idea where they had come from, a little bit of research uncovered that we were now part of a new global craze! This craze has kids all over the world getting outdoors to play hide and seek with hand-painted pet rocks. It has been praised as a cheap and easy way to get kids away from technology and outside. The hidden rocks are typically small, flat garden stones with a simple picture or a...

Tambo Ted Tours

By | Teddy Highlight | No Comments
If you go down to the Tambo town today You’re sure of a big surprise! Well, not every day but some days. A few weeks back we gave our first Tambo Ted Tour where two larger than life ‘Big Teds’ greeted a bus load of visitors and took then on a tour of the teddy bear workshop. We roped in local ‘actors’ Melissa Iland and her son Merrick as the Teds, and it was surely the highlight of Merrick’s school holidays! Although the suits are a bit hot, Melissa and Merrick thoroughly enjoyed the experience, as did our visitors who...

Twenty-Five Years of Teddy Bears

By | Teddy Highlight | No Comments

In the tiny town of Tambo located in the middle of the Outback local women have been crafting sheepskin teddy bears for the past twenty-five years. Following a Government workshop to uncover new industries in regional communities, three women got together and decided to form a teddy bear company. After nearly a year of extensive planning, designing, trial and error the first bears were ready for market in 1993. The final design or ‘prototype’ is proudly displayed in store while the first bear to be sold, auspiciously named ‘MacFarlane Mary’ and numbered 1 on her bum tag, was purchased by…
