Western Queensland has been suffering from an extended drought and many generous people from across the country have dug deep and kindly donated to the Western Queensland Drought Appeal Committee. The Committee are all unpaid volunteers who formed an organisation following a drought aid public forum held in Longreach in April 2015. The executive and management  team were elected and the Western Queensland  Drought Appeal was born. Tambo Teddies are National Regional Online Heroes!   Tambo Teddies is the inaugural winner of Google and the Regional Australia Institute's Regional Online Heroes competition. Bear 40,0000!!! Forty thousand bears have been made since Tambo Teddies began back in 1993 and that is only counting the Toby and Basil bear families. There have been countless Bickie Bears and numerous Koalas created at .little teddy bear factory on Arthur St, Tambo. We decided Bear 40,000 needed to be a bit special to mark this significant milestone so a 2015 replica of the first Tambo Teddy created has been made. Tambo Ted, birth name Flynn of the Outback, was donated to the Outback Car Trek by Tambo Teddies a few years back, and bought at auction for $2,000 by Trekkers Kevin & Lyn Englefield in car 24/7.   Ted has had a special seat in the front of Lyn’s car ever since, and has travelled around most of Australia seeing the sights. Tambo Teddies support Rockers for Knockers at the Sunshine Coast

Tambo Teddies recently donated a beautiful pink basil Tambo Teddy to the Rockers for Knockers Sunshine Coast marathon team raising money for cancer. The Rockers for Knockers team of over 200 participated in the 10km run at the Sunshine Coast Marathon to raise funds and awareness for the Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Foundation. Former Tambo resident, Ruth D'Hennin, gathered the team together after her surviving her own battle with breast cancer.  A sea of pink shirts were to be seen along the 10 km course at Alexandra Headlands on Sunday August 30th .
