Bunji at the Brisbane 2032 Procurement Launch

Bunji at the Brisbane 2032 Procurement Launch

What an exciting day in Brisbane! Alison from Tambo Teddies recently attended the Brisbane 2032 Procurement Launch at The Star Casino, a buzzing event hosted by Business Chamber Queensland’s CEO, Heidi Cooper. The room was filled with over 1,100 business representatives from all corners of Queensland, all eager to hear about the incredible opportunities coming our way in the lead-up to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

We heard from some inspiring speakers, including Andrew Liveris, President of the Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee; Fabrice Lacroix from Paris 2024; and Tim Mander, Minister for Sport, Racing, and the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Andrew Liveris announced that there will be more than $2.5 billion worth of procurement contracts up for grabs as Brisbane prepares to host the Games! These contracts will be released in stages over the next few years, creating exciting possibilities for businesses of all sizes.

The key takeaway? Be ready, be cooperative, and don’t go it alone. Form alliances, stay realistic about what you can deliver, and keep looking after your everyday customers. There will be opportunities right up to the end and plenty of ways to be part of something special.

Of course, our very own Bunji the Koala made an appearance too, sitting proudly at Table 69! Alison even had the opportunity to gift a large Bunji to Andrew Liveris himself. When Alison asked if he’d heard of Tambo Teddies, he smiled and said, “Yes, I have!”

He graciously accepted Bunji but joked that he couldn’t walk out with it, the media might think it was the new mascot! Alison was quick to reply, “Why not? The koala is the perfect mascot; it already has an international profile!”

We’ve made our mark so now it’s time to stay on their radar! Keep an eye out as procurement opportunities roll out and help us spread the word.
