Did you hear about our new tag line “Childhood friends for life”? This statement really resonates with me. It makes me think back to how important my stuffed animal friends were when I was a child. The memories they have given me are just priceless.
The new tag line “Childhood friends for life” reminds me of the Winnie the Pooh movie – Christopher Robin. A movie created for children, with so many hidden lessons for adults. I thought, this will be fun, watching a movie for work. Well, within the first five minutes, I was tearing up. Okay, I might be a bit of a sook when it comes to watching movies, but it got me reminiscing about my childhood. How wonderful it was to have my Teddy to play out all the adventures I wanted to go on. A child’s mind can be very creative when it has a buddy to join all the escapades.
Your Teddy is not only there for the fun times, Ted can also comfort you when you need it the most. When life gets tough, you could always give your Teddy a cuddle. Even later in life, that same fluffy friend brings back your childhood memories and all those comforting feelings.
In the movie, Christopher Robin becomes a very serious adult. He has a leather suitcase and is all suited up. When Pooh finds him, Christopher Robin doesn’t have time to play with Pooh, “he’s an adult now, with adult responsibilities”. A seemingly dangerous situation in the hundred Acre Wood (home of Winnie the Pooh and his friends) makes Christopher Robin play again. He plays with nothing more than his imagination and he laughs, laughs like he hadn’t laughed in a long time. Being around his childhood’s friends made him forget about all the adult stuff in his life and he could free his inner child again. And as Pooh would say; “it’s always a sunny day, when Christopher Robin comes to play”. I wonder, can’t we all use a bit more playfulness in our lives?
The moral of this story for me is the importance of creating these childhood memories and reminding yourself as an adult how valuable these memories are for the rest of your life. That’s why Tambo Teddies believes every child and adult deserves their childhood friend for life.
