What's all the hype about Black Friday and Cyber Monday?
They’re rooted in American tradition, but Black Friday has gained traction in Australia lately, despite not being a traditional holiday there. Falling on the fourth Friday of November, it tags along after the American Thanksgiving.
Originally a U.S. thing, Black Friday’s now a big deal worldwide, Australia included.
But what’s the difference between Black Friday and Cyber Monday?
Black Friday’s the old-school, in-store sales extravaganza, while Cyber Monday is the online counterpart, kicking off the Monday after Thanksgiving. But most stores run the sale from Friday through to Monday, we have even seen some retailers jumping a week or so early to make sure they grab the attention and the extra spend.
Sure, there’s been a bit of fuss Down Under about Black Friday – worries about over-the-top consumerism, small businesses feeling the squeeze, and Boxing Day sales taking a hit. Still, it has become a big shopping event that many Aussie bargain hunters now eagerly await.
At Tambo Teddies, we’ve hopped on the bandwagon, both online and in-store, running our sale for a whopping four days. It’s been a win-win for us and our customers. We skip Boxing Day sales since we’re ‘closed’ around that time, and while our online shop is open, and orders are processed we prefer to be taking it easy with family and friends. Plus, we love popping a sale out at this time of the year, it really gives or customers the opportunity to buy our goodies and be ready for Christmas.
So why not join the fun?
