Our local Hero – Tammy Johnson

Celebrating Our Local Hero: Tammy Johnson - Citizen of the Year in Tambo

You know every town has those unsung heroes, right? Well, in Tambo, Australia, we’ve got our very own superstar in the form of Tammy Johnson, who snagged the Citizen of the Year award this Australia Day. And let us tell you, she totally deserves it!

Tammy is the definition of community spirit. She’s all about giving back and making things happen. Her volunteer gig list is longer than a grocery list, and she puts her heart and soul into everything she does.

She’s heavily involved in the Tambo Stock Show. She’s the go-to person, for the Horse Gymkhana. From scheduling to course setups and teardowns, Tammy’s has it sorted. And when it comes to horses she is also rocking it at the Tambo Polocrosse Club, where she’s not only a Committee Member but also the mastermind behind upgrading their sound system. Plus, catch her behind the bar at events – she’s a multitasking marvel!

Tammy’s also a constant behind the scenes at the Tambo Race Club, juggling executive roles, sponsorships, and race day logistics like a pro. And with three young children she’s heavily involved with the Tambo Branch ICPA, Tambo P’n’C, Tambo School Choir, Blackall Swim Club and Tambo Childcare Parent Group, where she’s all about making education and opportunities for kids better.

Tammy’s out there coaching netball teams, supporting school activities, and even lending her musical talents to local events. Her positive vibe is infectious, and she’s always ready to roll up her sleeves and get stuff done.

What really sets Tammy apart is her unwavering dedication and that contagious smile of hers. Despite her busy schedule, she’s always there, ready to lend a hand and make a difference. She’s the real deal when it comes to community spirit, and we’re lucky to have her.

And of course, we can’t look past all she does at Tambo Teddies. Tammy’s energy, ideas and management of this local businesses and tourism initiative, has helped put Tambo on the map in more ways than one.

Suffice to say, we’re pretty proud of Tammy Johnson, our Citizen of the Year, let’s not forget what she represents – the power of community, generosity, and making things happen. Here’s to Tammy, and here’s to the magic she brings to Tambo and beyond! 🎉
