Bears of the Bush: Lending a Paw to Flooded Communities
We’re proud to join forces with Lansdowne Pastoral Company and the Tambo branch of the Queensland Country Women’s Association (QCWA) to support our western Queensland communities devastated by recent floods. We have donated eight special teddy bears, four Mr. Stockman and four Mrs. Stockman bears who are being auctioned online to aid in fundraising efforts. Each bear is named after one of the towns hardest hit by the floods: Jundah, Stonehenge, Eromanga, Windorah, Quilpie, Adavale, Thargomindah and Eulo.
Our Mr. and Mrs. Stockman Bears are among our signature creations, symbolising the resilience and character of Australia’s rural heritage, and each of our flood bears represents hope and solidarity for our friends in flood impacted communities.
Understanding the profound impact of the recent floods on neighbouring communities, we were wondering how to contribute meaningfully to the recovery efforts, when we were approached by the Tambo QCWA. Partnering with the Tambo QCWA will ensure that 100% of the funds raised are donated directly to the affected communities. By donating these special bears for auction, we aim to raise essential funds to support rebuilding initiatives and provide relief to those affected. Lansdowne Pastoral Company was quick to jump on board to embrace the opportunity to support this worthy cause by covering the cost of the auction platform.
Established in 1881, Lansdowne Pastoral Company stands as one of Queensland’s most iconic woolgrowing enterprises. Located near Tambo, the property spans approximately 66,206 hectares and, in favourable seasons, supports up to 45,000 Merino sheep.
As the largest sheep producer in the Tambo District, Lansdowne continues to uphold its commitment to quality genetics, animal welfare, and innovation, ensuring the provision of premium rams and livestock to producers across Australia. And as a little side note, Alison was their woolclasser for a five-year period in the 2000s.
The online auction of these bespoke bears presents an opportunity for individuals to own a piece of Australian craftsmanship while directly supporting flood relief efforts. Collectors and philanthropists alike are encouraged to participate in the auction, knowing that their contributions will aid in the restoration and support of these flood-affected communities.
This initiative exemplifies the profound impact of local collaboration, turning compassion into action to uplift communities in need. Through the combined efforts of our team at Tambo Teddies, Lansdowne Pastoral Company and the Tambo QCWA, these special bears serve not only as cherished keepsakes but also as symbols of unity and hope for the future.
The Raffle will be drawn on Friday 16th May 2025 in Tambo. You will be contacted if you’re a winner!
